Hoop Shoot

The Hoop Shoot free-throw shooting contest boasts the largest non-commercial, co-educational sports program in America and is sponsored by the Benevolent and Protective order of the Elks.

More that 3 million kids ages 8 to 13 participate each year.

Kids advance thrHoopshoot-1Sough local, district, state, regional and national levels.

One boy and one girl in each of the tree age groups ( 8-9, 10-11, 12-13) wins a national title at the finals in Springfield, Mass. The top six national finalist names are inscribed in the Naismith memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.

The Program builds character while promoting integrity, hard work, quality family time and good sportsmanship.

INTEGRITY, Kids who compete learn about respect, dedication, loyalty and self-esteem. Participants learn the importance of hard work and how to accept defeat or win gracefully.
HARD WORK, The contestants dedicate themselves to discipline, hard work and practice. These life skills help kids face the challenges of today to become responsible, caring adults.
FAMILY TIME, from hours of practice through all levels of competition, parents connect with their kids throughout the Hoop Shoot experience. Family members travel with the contestants through Local, district, State, regional and national competitions, at the Elks expense. The Regional is in Portland, Or. and the National is in Springfield, Mass. This funding comes from the ENF program.
GOOD SPORTSMANSHIP, the Hoop Shoot provides a character building, competitive experience for all kids. Through each of the levels of competition, kids support one another while learning from their unique strengthHoopshoot-2Ss.
